Esther

The Queen Who Spoke

Courage

Scripture (NIV)

And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?
Esther 4:14 (NIV)

Message

Esther's courage was not fearlessness; it was fear that prayed first and moved anyway. Your position, however small, is a place to act from.

Practice

Name the conversation you are avoiding. Pray, then set a time for it.

Prayer

Lord, give me courage sized for today. Let me speak with grace and go forward. Amen.

Lived out

Short practices that fit Esther's virtue of courage.

A practice to try

A pause at every doorway

I started touching the doorframe on the way into a room, my kid's bedroom, the office, the hospital ward, and saying under my breath, 'Go in ahead of me.' It takes a second. It changed how I walk into hard rooms, because I stopped arriving alone.

TRY TODAY

Pick one doorway you go through often today and pray those four words before you enter.

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV)
